Hi. I'm completely new here and midi is not my native language so please be patient. I'm desperately looking for some help with my KS Pro 88. I recently picked up a used one. I wasn't looking for anything as full-featured as this controller, but the price was right.
Everything was great until the pitch bend wheel started not returning to a centered value of 64. I seemed to have fixed that problem which involved taking the whole thing apart, screwing with the potentiometer and putting it back together again. A pain in the ass, but better than the pitch suddenly jumping up several steps.
While screwing with the above problem I was just relying on the LCD display to monitor the value of the PB wheel. However the keyboard seems to have a new and even less desirable problem. When I play the keys themselves they are intermittent. Any given key may respond half of the time. To make matters worse, when a key does respond it will produce (the midi equivalent?) of the wrong note(s) more or less randomly. Running KS88 via USB into a windows machine running Reaper I can see when midi is being sent. The problem with the keys themselves is reflected there. I can see them responding only sometimes. Everything else (sliders, knobs, mod and PB wheels) seems to be behaving appropriately in terms of transmitting data. It's probably safe to assume that in fixing one problem I created another, but has anyone encountered anything like this? Is there any hope of restoring this thing to functionality? Is there anything I can check?
