What's up forum, I just received my brand spanking new Oxygen 88 in the mail the other day and I am about to kick myself in the butt.
Tested in Pro Tools LE mini grand piano among others, Reason Piano and other random sounds
1. The velocity of certain keys are much louder than the rest. I tested all the velocity curves. I'm assuming this is hardware related after reading
this thread.
2. All the black keys in the middle from G#0 to F#5 make a "clicking" sound upon release, like plastic hitting plastic. It's extremely loud, especially when playing staccato. This doesn't affect the audio, but the unit sounds like it's breaking. The white keys don't click. I went to Guitar Center today to compare but they didn't have an 88 on display. I looked at keyboards, electric pianos, controllers, and not one of them, which I'm assuming have been on display and banged around for months, had this "something loose inside" sound. I was on hold for 45 minutes with M Audio for the tech to tell me this is not normal behavior. He did offer to have it repaired under warranty.
My Axiom 61 works great, but I want you guys in the forum to give me your opinion on this. Should I get it replaced (Uniquesquared.com might charge me return shipping and this thing is heavy), get it repaired (I don't know if M AUdio charges for shipping) or get something else. I would really like to keep this bad boy but I haven't seen many reviews online at all.
Thanks!
Choyness
